IV: To a Locomotive in Winter

Leaves of Grass Series - Smoked Porter

To a Locomotive in Winter is the fourth release in the Bell's Leaves of Grass Series.

IV: To a Locomotive in Winter

The fourth of 7 beers celebrating a literary classic, and one of our favorites, Leaves of Grass, by Walt Whitman. German smoked malt, chocolate malt and roasted malt work in harmony with carefully chosen hops for a smooth, smokey take on a classic style.

Future editions will be released every two months ending in May 2020.

Tasting Notes:

Why don't we list IBUs?

There is a difference between absolute bitterness and perceived bitterness. IBUs are useful for homebrewers for the purpose of clone recipes, but it doesn’t always tell the whole story. Expedition Stout is a good example. It has more IBUs than more traditional hoppy beers like Two Hearted and Hopslam.
