IMG_0699.JPGOver the weekend, this year’s barley was harvested at the Bell’s Farm in Shepherd, Michigan, which has been a part of Bell’s since 2008.

The barley will be used for future batches of Midwestern Pale Ale, Christmas Ale and Harvest Ale.

Below is a look at our events this week in Michigan, Indiana and Wisconsin.


Aug. 6

Oberon Happy Hour (with Bell's inspired cocktails): Bar Louie, Novi , 5-7 p.m. - Oberon, Two Hearted and Double Cream Stout will be on tap. As a special treat for the evening, Bell's beer infused cocktails will also be featured (Double Cream Chocolate Milk: Bell's Double Cream Stout, Kahlua, Rumchata and pure cane syrup; Keep Calm and Ober-on: Bell's Oberon, Grand Marnier, orange and lemon juice, pure cane syrup with cinnamon; Naranja Ardiente: Bell's Oberon, Fireball, Grand Marnier and pure cane syrup).

Aug. 8

Beer 101: Old Burdick's Downtown, Kalamazoo, 6 p.m.  - One of two beer workshops, this session will focus on Amber, Two Hearted, Lager of the Lakes and Midwestern Pale Ale.

Beer 201: Old Burdick's Downtown, Kalamazoo, 7:30 p.m. - This more advanced beer workshop will focus on Oarsman, Black Note and Sparkling Ale.  

Bell's Beer Dinner: Alexander J's Smokehouse, Flint, 6 p.m. - ON THE MENU: First Course: Summer Citrus Salad paired with Oberon; Second Course: Jumbo Shrimp & Baked Wings paired with Two Hearted; Third Course: 7 oz. Strip Steak, Baked Chicken and Green Beans paired with Amber Ale; Fourth Course: Dessert paired with a secret Bell's Beer. Limited seating. Tickets are on sale now.

Multi-Tap Event: Hatchy's Sports Bar and Grill, Utica, 6 p.m.  - Black Note, Roundhouse India Red Ale, Quinnanan Falls, Oberon, Two Hearted and Amber and a firkin of Two Hearted.

Post Ore to Shore Tap Explosion: The Blue Lounge, Marquette, 8 p.m.

Patio Party: La Margarita, Indianapolis, 7 p.m. - A firkin of Third Coast Beer, Amber Ale, Expedition Stout, Oberon, Third Coast Beer, Two Hearted, Le Pianiste and Wedding Ale


Aug. 9

Pre-Great Taste of the Midwest Party: Maduro, Madison, 11 a.m.  - Bourbon Barrel Aged Batch 9,000, Debs' Red, Uberon, Smoked Lager, The Wild One, Le Contrebassiste, Le Pianiste, Amber, Black Note, Quinanan Falls Special Lager, Oarsman, Kalamazoo Stout, Porter, Two Hearted, Midwestern Pale Ale, Oberon, Sparkleberry, Wedding Ale, Third Coast Beer and a firkin of Two Hearted
