A relatively new beer brought home a medal this past weekend from the Great American Beer Festival in Denver.

Sparkleberry Ale - a blend of our Raspberry Ale (made with Michigan raspberries) and Sparkling Ale - was awarded a bronze medal in the fruit beer category.

The beer was introduced at this year's Kalamazoo Pride, of which Bell's was a presenting sponsor. It is a specialty beer and only available on draft.

Per the GABF website:

The Great American Beer Festival awards gold, silver and bronze medals for excellence in 75 beer-style categories but does not necessarily award medals to the top three finishers in a particular category.

When judges decide a category contains three excellent examples of the style, they award gold, silver and bronze medals for the first, second and third place beers, respectively.

This is the latest medal Bell's has been awarded at GABF. In 2011, a sixteen-year-old Expedition Stout was awarded a gold medal in the aged beer category.

We have 2 videos to share with you today from our Roll Out The Barrel Party on Oct. 6.

The first features Bell's Vice President Laura Bell and Cellar Operations Manager Sam Reese talking about how this event came about.

The second features additional video and photos from the event set to the music of Ein Prosit, whom also plays annually at the Eccentric Cafe during Octoberfest.

Enjoy.
