Hopslam 2014: Shipping dates, release parties and availability
Another Hopslam season is upon us! And we know a lot of our fans are excited to see its return.
Below are answers to some of the more commonly asked questions about our seasonal double IPA.
Q: When/where will Hopslam be available?
A: Some availability is dependent on when distributors from each area are able to pick it up at our brewery, but Hopslam will make it to all states we currently distribute to.
It will start shipping to areas in Michigan the week of Jan. 6.
It will begin shipping to Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, Missouri, Ohio and Arizona the week of Jan. 13.
It will then start shipping to Florida, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, New York, North Carolina, Virginia, Washington DC, Kentucky and Pennsylvania the week of Jan. 20.
Our Event Calendar already has quite a few release events listed. (We will add more as we get them finalized.)
You can also check our Beer Finder. Please keep in mind, the beer will have to travel first to our distributors and then make its way to bars, restaurants and retailers before it will show up in the Beer Finder. Please be patient when checking with your local establishment for more detailed information.

Q: Is there more this year?
A: We are trying to brew more but won’t know the final numbers until it’s all packaged and shipped.
Q: Will there be Hopslam mini-kegs?
A: No there will not.
Q: Can I buy a keg for my home bar/kegerator?
A: Sorry, no. All kegs are reserved for bars and restaurants. This is done to spread as much as possible of this very popular beer to as many of our fans as we can.
Kalamazoo Beer Week 2014: Bell's events for Jan. 10-18
Here are our events for Kalamazoo Beer Week 2014. We will update this list as additional details become available.
Pre-Kalamazoo Beer Week Tasting: Bell’s General Store, 4-7 p.m.
Jan. 11 - 18
Bell's Beer Dinner Menu: Rustica, Kalamazoo, $42 per person
First course: Braised Otto’s Chicken Salad - Arugula, blood orange, tangerine and Garlic Vinaigrette paired with Smitten Golden Rye Ale
Second course: Mushroom Rigatoni - Black truffle purée and pecorino paired with Special Double Cream Stout
Entree: Braised Beef Brisket - Puff Pastry, squash, peppers, demi-glacé paired with Kalamazoo Stout
2nd Annual Bell’s Snow Jog Adventure (Leisure) Race & Challenge: Multiple locations, downtown Kalamazoo. Proceeds will benefit Kalamazoo Loaves & Fishes.
Sunday Beer Brunch: Eccentric Café, noon to 3 p.m. Cost is $15 for an all you can eat buffet or $8 for kids. Specialty beer cocktails will also be available.
Craft Beer & Crafts Night: Eccentric Café, 5-9 p.m. Admission is free. Variety of craft beer related crafts. Learn how to paint a unique craft beer painting from our friends at Happy Our Art - seats are limited for this portion and can be reserved here. Too Koi Designs will also give a screen printing demo.
Bell's Happy Hour(s) with Laura Bell: Central City Tap House, Kalamazoo, 5:30-7:30 p.m. Black Note, Hopslam, Rye Stout, Sweet Potato Stout and Red Nose ESB will be on tap.

Jort-Slam Hopslam Party: Eccentric Café, 8 p.m. Enjoy Hopslam and Smitten while singing on our stage with back-up from Live Band Karaoke. Don’t forget your jorts!
Minute To Win It Party: Shakespeare's Pub, Kalamazoo, 7 p.m. Multiple beers on tap.
- Corn & Leek Chowder paired with Third Coast Beer
- Smoked Salmon Profiterole - House smoked salmon mousse, crème faiche paired with Smitten Golden Rye
- Rustic Grilled Vegetable Tart - Roasted garlic, caramelized onion, grilled vegetables and Moody Blue cheese paired with Hopslam
- Grilled Char Siu Duck Confit - Chinese barbeque grilled duck served with Jasmine rice paired with Porter

Winternoon Warmer Patio Party: Eccentric Café, noon. Heaters will be on and a live auction (various items) will benefit The YWCA of Kalamazoo.

On Dec. 19, 2013, an official ribbon cutting was held to celebrate the opening of the Bell's Bar inside the Gerald R. Ford International Airport in Grand Rapids. The bar offers a variety of Bell's beer, Bell's inspired food and is located outside of security so, tickets are not required to visit.
