JOB TITLE: Communications Intern

LOCATION: Administration Building , Comstock, MI 

REPORTS TO:  Communications Manager

FLSA POSITION TYPE: Variable Hours, Hourly (Paid) Non-Exempt

INTERNSHIP START DATE: 06/04/2018 – 08/24/2018

EXTERNAL POSTING DATES: 02/01/2018- 02/25/2018

 

POSITION SUMMARY: The Communications intern will assist the Communications team in the development and organization for new and existing website, social media, and digital content.  

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  include the following.

• Adheres to and advances the “Safety Always” culture of Bell’s Brewery.

• Creates evergreen website and social media content.

• Assists with photo archiving and organization.

• Conducts social media competitor analysis and presents findings to team.

• Assist Digital Content Specialist with day-to-day needs and packaging shots.

• Website copy editing.

• Researches and develops content for internal communications. 

• Audits and captions all existing videos. 

• Assists in documenting processes as they relate to standard operating procedures (SOP’s).

• Creates an end-of-program presentation to be given to members of the management team.

 

Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

MATERIALS/MACHINES/EQUIPMENT USED:

• Microsoft Office Programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

• General Office Equipment

 

IMPORTANT SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Strong interpersonal, analytical, written and oral communication skills; able to communicate with a broad and diverse audience of all levels.

• Ability to organize and meet deadlines for a wide variety of ad hoc requests. Must be able to handle numerous projects at one time.

• Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment. 

• Demonstrate high levels of self-direction and an orientation to achieve results.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality of highly sensitive information.  Absolute integrity and discretion esential.

• High level of creativity for marketing related ideas and materials

• Computer proficiency, especially with Microsoft Office Suite. 

• Keen eye for detail.

 

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS:

• Junior or Senior in pursuit of a Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related degree from an accredited program.

• Experience in long and short form writing with a focus on web and social media.

• Experience in photography, videography and/or editing software, is a plus.

• Passion for craft beer!

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to sit for long periods of time, stand, use a computer and other office equipment.

• Work is primarily performed in an office environment with occasional trips to operational areas required.
