Q&A: Information about Bell’s response to COVID-19

Bell's Brewery Covid-19 Implications

Safety is always our first priority. We are taking all necessary precautions to help keep our employees, our customers and the community safe. We are continuously monitoring the situation, taking direction from the CDC and our state officials. We will communicate any changes to how we conduct business across all of our communications platforms (here on our website and on our social media channels).

What are you doing to make sure your space is safe?

Quality has always been at the forefront of everything we do. That includes how we approach cleanliness.

Our Facilities and Housekeeping teams were already following strict protocols, but those have been enhanced to focus even more on high-touch areas like switches and doorknobs while using appropriate cleaning agents.

For our employees, we have put additional precautions into place. Those include canceling all non-essential business travel, limiting access to our brewery to essential personnel only and allowing employees who are able, to work from home.

We are doing everything we can to help ensure the safety of our employees, customers, partners, and community. Check out the video below for more from our VP of Production, John Mallett.

Are you still open? Are you canceling events?

With the well-being of our employees, guests, and Kalamazoo community in mind, and in accordance with the Governor’s decision, we are temporarily closing Bell’s Eccentric Cafe, effective, Monday, March 16th.

Beer-to-go

Our General Store is open daily from noon until 6 p.m. with reduced staffing. We will continue to evaluate and make changes as necessary.

ONLINE STORE & homebrewing

Our online General Store has a variety of puzzles, games and more to help keep you busy while we all work through this pandemic. If you're looking for a new hobby, consider checking out our homebrew supplies and resources

Concerts and other events at the Cafe

All public and private events at the Eccentric Cafe have been canceled through the end of April. For those who have purchased tickets to one of our shows, you will receive a full refund if purchased via credit card. (Please be patient as refunds may take several business days due to high volumes.)

For those who purchased with cash, refunds will be made in person at our General Store. If you have additional refund questions, please email us at concertinfo@bellsbeer.com.

What about Oberon Day and its availability?

We have informed our distributors and retail partners that they can begin releasing Oberon as soon as they get it and not wait until the original launch day of March 23.

We encourage everyone to celebrate where they feel most comfortable and enjoy a little sunshine wherever they can. We do ask that everyone be patient as our distributor partners work to get Oberon out into the market. It will take some time and availability may vary for the time being.

Our Beer Finder is a good resource for help locating it, but please call ahead to ensure it is available before heading out the door,

As for other events, many have already been canceled and it is safe to assume others will be as well. Please check our Events Calendar; we will update it as information becomes available. Reaching out to your local bar or restaurant is also advised as they will always have the most up to date information about their event(s).

NEW: We have scheduled an Oberon Day Virtual Toast on March 23 at 6 p.m. [MORE] UPDATE: Missed the live toast with Larry? Check it out.

Are you offering tours?

For the time being, all brewery tours in Kalamazoo and Comstock have been canceled.

What about upcoming beer releases?

We are taking every necessary precaution to protect our brewery and continue brewing, packaging, and shipping that beer you know and love in addition to new favorites.
