JOB TITLE: Door Staff

LOCATION: Eccentric Café, Kalamazoo, MI  

REPORTS TO: Assistant Hospitality Manager

FLSA POSITION TYPE: Part-Time, Hourly Non-Exempt

EXTERNAL POSTING DATES: 03/19/2018-04/29/2018

 

POSITION SUMMARY: Door staff assists with creating an inviting atmosphere by greeting customers and monitoring spaces to maintain a safe, clean, and positive environment at the Eccentric Café.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

• Adheres to and advances the “Safety Always” culture of Bell’s Brewery

• Greets customers in a timely and friendly manner

• Remains up to date on all valid forms of ID, rules, & exceptions 

• Checks and verifies customer identification

• Understands & enforces company & pub policies i.e. times for children, employee admittance on band nights, etc.

• Enforces the following:

o No alcoholic drinks leave the bar

o No one brings in outside beverages

o No consumption of alcoholic beverages in the parking lot

o Smoking ban rules & keeps smoking patrons off of stoop

• Assists in security-like duties i.e. crowd control, assisting band, patrolling grounds

• Helps Hospitality staff close down at end of night

• Assists guests in understanding the venue and selecting the proper space for their desired experience

• Assists with facility needs to ensure a clean and safe environment

• Utilizes TiPS training to ensure a safe environment for Bell’s patrons. 

• Communicates and works with Hospitality Management Team to address any concerns as needed

 

Band Nights

• Knows band, what type of music they play & amount of cover charge

• Organizes & counts wristbands, communication when low

• Knows who is in the band & with the band; provides proper wristbands for those parties

• Handles guest list; knows the limit & who to communicate to if too many

• Handles “will-call” list

• Takes cover charge from each patron accountable for cash drawer intake

 

Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

• An energetic, forward-thinking, and creative individual with high ethical standards who will positively represent Bell’s Brewery both internally and externally

• Ability to be friendly yet firm and stay calm in stressful situations

• Ability to control crowds and handle unforeseen situations with a customer first focus

• Strong observational, problem solving and analytical skills.

• Strong interpersonal, and oral communication skills and comfortable addressing diverse groups

• Ability to think on your feet, respond to questions while handling multiple tasks

• A well-organized and self-directed individual who is a team player

• Should have strong work ethic and a willingness to support other departments as needed

• Flexible work schedule, as weekends and extended workdays are required 

 

 

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS:

• Previous customer service experience

• Prior experience verifying ID’s 

• Tips certification

• Ability to frequently talk, hear, and smell

• Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 lbs and occasionally lift and/or move up to 58 lbs

• Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus

• Ability to work both indoor and outdoor in seasonal temperatures

• Exposed to high noise levels
