JOB TITLE: Wellness Intern

LOCATION: Administration Building, Comstock, MI

REPORTS TO: Benefits and Payroll Manager

FLSA POSITION TYPE: Variable Hours, Hourly (Paid) Non-Exempt

INTERNSHIP DATES: 06/04/2018 – 08/24/2018

EXTERNAL POSTING DATES: 02/02/2018- 02/25/2018

 

POSITION SUMMARY: The Wellness Intern will be responsible for assisting with wellness and fitness programs provided by Bell’s Brewery, Inc. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  include the following.

• Adheres to and advances the “Safety Always” culture of Bell’s Brewery.

• Personal train employees in a one on one and/or group setting.

• Teach group fitness classes.

• Prepare and deliver health/wellness education programs to employees.

• Contribute to the marketing of all fitness and wellness programs and services through website promotions, table tents, social media, etc. 

• Active member of the Wellness Committee.

• Assist in the coordination of special events related to wellness.

• Assist in compiling participation data and the completion of necessary reports.

• Creates an end-of-program presentation to be given to members of the management team.

 

Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

MATERIALS/MACHINES/EQUIPMENT USED:

• Microsoft Office Programs including Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

• General Office Equipment

• Fitness Equipment

 

IMPORTANT SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Ability to convey knowledge in a personable and engaging way 

• Ability to be enthusiastic, friendly and customer service oriented 

• Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills; able to communicate with a broad and diverse audience of all levels.

• Ability to organize and meet deadlines for a wide variety of ad hoc requests. Must be able to handle numerous projects at one time.

• Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Office products with a focus in Excel and Access. 

• Ability to work independently with little supervision – self motivated

• Comfortable working in a team environment with a great deal of interdepartmental coordination. 

 

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS:

• Must be a junior or senior from an accredited program with an emphasis in Exercise Science or related field.

• Certification(s) in personal training, nutrition, and/or coaching. 

• Current CPR certification and First Aid.

• Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and climb.

• Ability to frequently talk, and hear.

• Ability to frequently reach with hands and arms. Use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.

• Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus. 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. 

• This position works primarily in an office environment with regular trips into fitness center required.
