Senior Accountant

JOB TITLE:  Senior Accountant

LOCATION: Administrative Office, Comstock, MI

REPORTS TO:  Controller

FLSA POSITION TYPE: Full Time, Salaried Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY: As a key member of the Finance department the Senior Accountant will act as the point of contact for day-to-day accounting department needs. The Senior Accountant also works with the Controller in managing financial information by researching and analyzing accounts, financial statement preparation, and installing or advising on financial systems. 



• Adheres to and advances the “Safety Always” culture of Bell’s Brewery.

• Advocates a continuous improvement culture throughout his/her team.

• Preparation of sales tax returns.

• Preparation of bank reconciliations and cash flow projections.

• Develops and documents finance policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.

• Makes recommendations assessing budgets and controls that mitigate risk.

• Prepares financial budgets and forecasts.

• Prepares company and departmental financial statements.

• Calculates variances from the budget and reports any significant issues to management.

• Calculates and issues financial and operating metrics.

• Assures that transactions are properly applied and appropriate records are maintained.

• Gathers information for external auditors.

• Performs analysis and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.

• Stays abreast on FASB, GAAP, and general professional standards and communicates opportunities to improve, add value, and enhance Bell’s values and goals.

• Maintains department Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and audits processes to develop/implement new SOPs.

• Ability to work proficiently in Windows environment including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access Database, and Microsoft Outlook on a Windows based PC.

• Microsoft Dynamics AX ERP Software



• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

• 3-5 years’ experience within the Accounting/Finance field. 

• Prior experience working with Microsoft Dynamics AX (or comparable ERP software) is a plus

• Prior experience in a leadership or informal leadership position, is a plus. 

• Moderate level of craft beer product knowledge.
