Per Diem Bartender

JOB TITLE: Per Diem Bartender 

LOCATION: Eccentric Café, Kalamazoo, MI

REPORTS TO: Assistant Hospitality Manager

FLSA POSITION TYPE: Part-Time, Tipped Hourly Non-Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY: Serving patrons with a friendly attitude and knowledge of Bell’s products as business volume dictates.  



• Adheres to and advances the “Safety Always” culture of Bell’s Brewery

• Performs opening/closing duties as scheduled

• Cleans and stocks glassware

• Serves alcohol to customers responsibly & politely; follows proper beer pouring and serving procedures

• Takes food orders & handles money 

• Assists customers with questions and concerns

• Cuts off individuals & communicates to proper channels

• Stocks bottled beer, soda, & soda syrups as necessary while on shift

• Answers the telephone and passes callers to the proper authority

• Accurately tenders money and gives change for purchases made at the bar

• Beer knowledge: Accurately describes all beers on tap & bottles in cooler, compares & contrasts beers & styles, knows proper glassware, tiers, and price points

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  

• Must be 21 years of age or older

• Must have a flexible schedule, nights and weekends are required



• Twenty faucet draught System

• Electric glass washer

• Soaps and cleansers

• POS system



• Ability to resolve customer complaints about beer and/or service.

• An energetic, forward-thinking, and creative individual with high ethical standards who will positively represent Bell’s Brewery both internally and externally

• A well-organized and self-directed individual who is a team player

• Strong interpersonal skills

• Efficient money handling skills

• Ability to prioritize and multi-task

• Prior bar or restaurant serving/bartending experience

• TiPS/Tam certified

• Extensive knowledge of craft beer and Bell’s products

• Ability to be on your feet and walk for long periods of time. Walking surfaces may be wet and/or slippery.

• Ability to lift and/or move up to 58 pounds and occasionally maneuver with mechanical means/assistance 165 lb kegs 

• Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and climb

• Ability to frequently talk, hear, and smell

• Ability to frequently reach with hands and arms. Use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls

• Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.
